Your Ticket's Points

In Ontario, every type of ticket has its own allocated number of points to go with it. Unfortunately, on summons and tickets that are given in Ontario, the number of points allocated to your ticket is not shown directly on the ticket.

  • Driver – Fail to Ensure Passenger Under 16 is Properly Wearing a Seatbelt

  • Driver – Fail to Ensure an Infant/Toddler/Child is Properly Secured in an Appropriate Child Car Seat or Booster Seat

  • Driver Failing to Wear a Seatbelt

  • Unnecessary Slow Driving

  • Failing to Signal

  • Improper Right and Left Turns

  • Failing to Share the Road

  • Disobey Sign

  • Towing People – On Toboggans, Bicycles, etc.

  • Prohibited Turns

  • Backing on a Highway

  • Failing to Lower Headlight Beam

  • Failing to Leave a One Meter Distance Passing a Cyclist

  • Passing a Vehicle Within 30 Metres of a Pedestrian

  • Passing a Stopped Streetcar – Failing to Yield to Pedestrian

  • Fail to Obey School Crossing Stop Sign

  • Failing to Obey a Traffic Control or Stop Sign

  • Improper Opening of a Vehicle Door

  • Failing to Stop at a Pedestrian Crossing

  • Improper Use of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane

  • Using or Carrying a Speed Measuring Warning Device

  • Crossing a Divided Road Where No Proper Passing is Provided

  • Driving or Operating a Vehicle on a Closed Road

  • Going the Wrong Way on a One-Way Road

  • Crowding the Driver’s Seat

  • Improper Driving or Passing Where Road is Divided Into Lanes

  • Failing to Report a Collision to Police

  • Follow Fire Department Vehicle Too Closely

  • Fail to Stop on Right or Nearest Curb or Nearest Edge of Roadway for Emergency Vehicle

  • Failing to Move, Where Possible, into Another Lane When Passing a Stopped Vehicle or Tow Truck with Lights Flashing

  • Failing to Slow and Carefully Pass a Stopped Emergency Vehicle or Tow Truck with Lights Flashing

  • Driving the Wrong Way on Divided Road

  • Failing to Obey the Directions of a Police Officer

  • Failing to Obey a Stop Sign

  • Red Light – Fail to Stop

  • Amber Light – Fail to Stop

  • Failing to Yield the Right of Way

  • Driving Through, around, or under a Railway Crossing Barrier

  • Distracted Driving

  • Drive – Handheld Communication Device

  • Speeding – Exceeding the Speed Limit by 16km/hr – 29km/hr

  • Follow Too Closely
